What Makes Me Happy

Stepping onto the football field makes me happy. I love the feeling of unity and brotherhood you get from being on a team. I love being under the lights and having the glare in my eyes. I find it exhilarating to play under the stars. When I run onto the field a smile creeps onto my face and spreads from ear to ear. When I look up at the score board and see us soaring above the competition, it just makes it a little sweeter. But there is on,y one thing that I don’t like… Man, the sound of that buzzer stinks. If only the game could last forever.

Our Makeshift Thanksgiving Dinner

This past Thanksgiving my family was in Colorado because we were visiting CU Boulder, (The University of Colorado at Boulder). After the collage tour we drove up to Breckenridge Colorado and went skiing. There is only one grocery store there so on thanksgiving afternoon we took the shuttle out to the store and bought some stuff for dinner.
My sisters decided that they wanted to get some things to make an apple pie. They got some pre-made crust, some cinnamon, brown sugar, some other spices, and some green, juicy Granny Smith apples. We got lucky and found one of the last real turkeys left! Our family ended the shopping trip with some canned vegetables.
We got home and cooked up our dinner. I wouldn’t say that it was the best thanksgiving dinner ever, but that isn’t important. It’s not about whats on the table, it’s about whose around it.

By the way, it looked a lot better than that!

I am from…

I am from sports balls
From home-made pizza and music
I am from the red brick house with a feeling of unity inside of it
From the garden
I am from the creek whose water flowed after the long, hard, rains
From the bay house and crawfish boils
I am from Michael and Greg
From vacation and grandpa’s gym
I am from football
From “Come back” and “Go on”
I am from “tickets for the next ride”
From Houston and Mexico
I am from burgers and tacos
From the big bus that my grandma and her 9 other siblings rode in
I am from Old grandpas fishing poles under the deck that he loved
I am a small tree in a big forest
A forest where all trees take care of eachother

From the Snap to the Score

Toward my hands the ball comes
My eyes darting from receiver to receiver
All of the receivers are covered, making my mind spin
Stepping up in the pocket huge lineman around me
Boom!
My body tenses as the nose guard hits me from behind
My mind tells me that I’m going to fall, but that isn’t an answer
I put my hand down and balance myself and it works
I sprint across the line they call the line of scrimmage
Juking the linebacker and across the 50
I beat the safety and sprint into the end zone
My breaths short and heart pumping
I have scored a touchdown

Amazing Football Catch

Since it is football season right now, I was looking for an amazing football catch. I decided to look it up on You Tube and found this video. I think that this is one of the best catches of all time. How he forgets about everything and just dive backwards, catching the ball with one hand; not to mention having a defenseman on him. I thought that this video was definitely worth a spot on my blog.

My Birthday Present

Wednesday was my birthday! I woke up in the morning forgetting that it was my birthday, but then suddenly it hit me, BAM! I got out of bed and ran down stairs. My mom and dad were waiting for me with my sister. There was a big banner above our bar saying, “Happy Birthday Peyton!” I was very happy. I had a big waffle for breakfast with candles in it. Then I went to school. School was okay, a lot of people wished me happy birthday so that was good. My mom said she was going to bring me lunch on my birthday so that made me happy. I got to have, what I think, are some of the best sandwiches in town, Jersey Mikes Subs! As always I got BLT that was delicious and some sea salt and vinegar chips that are almost sour but not. The are for sure my favorite chips of all time. I finished school, went home, and ate a great dinner of steak and mashed potatoes.
Suddenly my sister, her boyfriend, and my mom just left! They were gone for three hours! Eventually they got home and told me to come to the garage… I opened the door and… Sitting there was a huge, lawn mower engine, 6.5 horsepower go kart! I was overjoyed! I couldn’t believe that they had gotten me one! I took a quick drive around our driveway with a smile from ear to ear. Right when I got in the garage, a wave of exhaustion hit me. So I went to bed with a huge smile.

These shoes

Across the beach,

Around bends,

Over streams,

Through the hallways,

Up the rock walls,

Through the caves,

Into trouble,

Out of trouble,

Down the football field,

Across the basketball court,

These shoes have taken me on adventures I will never forget

Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football is one of my favorite things about NFL footballevery year. I love how I get to draft my own team, and see how my predictions for who is going to do good this year turn out. I love the excitement of watching your team and players get yardage, catch passes, make fieldgoals, and score touchdowns.

I  did my draft  a couple of days ago, and I feel pretty good about my team. I have a couple of players who are projected to get over 300 points, Cam Newton, Marshawn Lynch, and maybe some more. Reggie Bush did really good for me in week one, he got me around 25 points, and I expect him to get a lot more points in the next weeks. Cam Newton did pretty good also, I think that he got me a around 20 points.

I think my team is pretty good. How is yours?
