Our Makeshift Thanksgiving Dinner

This past Thanksgiving my family was in Colorado because we were visiting CU Boulder, (The University of Colorado at Boulder). After the collage tour we drove up to Breckenridge Colorado and went skiing. There is only one grocery store there so on thanksgiving afternoon we took the shuttle out to the store and bought some stuff for dinner.
My sisters decided that they wanted to get some things to make an apple pie. They got some pre-made crust, some cinnamon, brown sugar, some other spices, and some green, juicy Granny Smith apples. We got lucky and found one of the last real turkeys left! Our family ended the shopping trip with some canned vegetables.
We got home and cooked up our dinner. I wouldn’t say that it was the best thanksgiving dinner ever, but that isn’t important. It’s not about whats on the table, it’s about whose around it.

By the way, it looked a lot better than that!

I am from…

I am from sports balls
From home-made pizza and music
I am from the red brick house with a feeling of unity inside of it
From the garden
I am from the creek whose water flowed after the long, hard, rains
From the bay house and crawfish boils
I am from Michael and Greg
From vacation and grandpa’s gym
I am from football
From “Come back” and “Go on”
I am from “tickets for the next ride”
From Houston and Mexico
I am from burgers and tacos
From the big bus that my grandma and her 9 other siblings rode in
I am from Old grandpas fishing poles under the deck that he loved
I am a small tree in a big forest
A forest where all trees take care of eachother
